Modern family star has had elective surgery to reduce her bust to combat the creepy misogynist lusting over her.

It's sick that she had to go to these lengths. Why is this something that had to happen, and how can we stop this happening to anyone else?

She had F cups. I had F cups, and got breast reduction surgery, and they took out nine pounds of unnecessary breast fat. I feel so much better now; my back doesn't hurt anymore, I can find clothes that fit me, and I don't have to worry about even genuinely "normal" clothing turning into a strip tease. Good on her, and I hope things go well for her, post-surgery.

Yep. Not from each boob, thankfully; that was the total amount removed from both together, but yes.

Or, you know, she might have had back pain.

Breast reduction isn't always cosmetic, or about men.

Yeah, I don't find it entirely unrealistic that someone with very large cups would get surgery because they personally want it.

That said, though, I easily believe that she was getting gross comments and that this might have made her uncomfortable, too. And it's shitty that that happens. I've no instant solutions (other than the obvious, that we need a society that's less dehumanizing toward women), but it sucks.

As someone who's had a breast reduction, I fully understand and support her decision.

Creepy men are just a (small) part why some women elect to have a breast reduction. And fyi, breast reductions are not "dangerous" nor are they "unnecessary". Breast reductions pose a minimal threat to one's health and no doctor worth their salt will ever even consider doing a reduction without a good reason relating to either the patient's health/physical well-being or the patient wants to remove/reduce their breasts because they're trans (and even then you need a psychiatrist's assessment).

Do your research before you start any unnecessary wank, please.

Wow. She 'explains' her surgery. Jayzus. She shouldn't *have* to 'explain' anything. Sometimes, i just hate the world.

She chose to explain her surgery because she wanted to bring awareness. She was actually quiet about the whole thing for a while, and I believe she could've remained silent if she wanted to.

So, good for her, I think.

Just the headline, maybe - 'explain', like 'give us a good reason for making your bewbies smaller!!'

ia with you in how distasteful that article feels. It's like clickbait to talk about a 17-year-old's breasts and her medical choices thereof. If she wants to speak out her experiences, that's awesome. But I also get the sense that it's something people would be talking about it even if she hadn't said anything. Like, if the article was actually interested in the medical situation, focus the article on that, and other examples, instead of making it so personally about her situation.

That's what I'm thinking because I've read a few articles on this and she had F cups at 17. That's large and just in general uncomfortable. At her age it's entirely possible they'd grow to become even larger and having them reduced younger could save her tons of back issues later in life.

You clearly don't have ginormous boobs, because let me tell you, they fucking suck. The second I have the money to do so, I'm getting reduction surgery, and it has NOTHING to do with how men react to them. They HURT. My back hurts, they hurt themselves, they suck and I hate them. And that's only with DDDs! I can't imagine how much this poor girl has to be suffering from *Fs*.

My gf has g cup boobs, and she's fine with em. Especially when she tracked down some good bras. So she wasn't necessarily suffering from back problems.

...I'm sure there's individual variation there.

Plus, as others have pointed out, even if it's okay in the short run, it could cause problems in the long run.

I know plenty of ppl with breasts that size who got reductions. That size /hurts/. She's preventing serious back shoulder and neck injury later down the track

I hope she heals up well.
