Those seems such...odd criteria, though?

If you're talking tumblr, especially, then a / is untaggable, so of course you'll get portmanteaus and people tag stuff with their name so they can find it. But obviously it's going to bleed through to other things.

I've seen people substitute an "x" for "/" to get around that, but yeah, the tumblr tagging system does lend itself to portmanteaus.

It is honestly a hassle to tag with & or x between the names. Especially if you are searching someones blog you have to remember where to put a dash and sometimes it's unsearchable. Not to mention using the x or & in the search bar will give you unrelated results because it shows all other ships. Like if you are searching for one specific pair you will also get other pairs that use [character name] and x or & in their tags.

It is so much easier to tag ship portmanteaus since it turns into one very specific keyword and you will get results only for that unless there is another ship that has the same portmanteau.

I feel sorry for people who are so adverse to portmanteaus because they are missing out on something easy. I wonder if they are also against stuff like LOL and BRB or any other shorthand.
