It's a show about Morty (not pictured) who's a normal kid and his crazy mad scientist alcoholic weirdo pervert uncle Rick, who is crazy.

Summer is Morty's older sister.

Nah, I don't think that's sad or pathetic; it just sounds human to me. Lots of people have issues with their family OP, it's nothing to be ashamed of.

I won't say I have a similar situation, but when I see awesome parental relationships I get a bit sad because my relationship with my mom is completely different than it was a few years ago and I miss it.

I have some issues with my father and it often makes me view media with "daddy-issue tinted glasses." I personally don't identify with the Rick/Summer dynamic like you do, but a while back I stumbled across a fic that featured Rick and Beth having a heart to heart where he essentially apologized for being such an ass and it had me in tears by the end.

But there's nothing wrong with reacting to the show in this way, especially with a show like R+M that has dark but sometimes uncomfortably realistic portrayals of family relationships

(And as someone with rampant alcoholism in my family, the hints that another member of the family also has a drinking problem hit me like a brick)

TBF it's a Dan Harmon joint so those themes are almost certainly actually present in the work.
