I think the reason fiction (but also non-fiction stories of people far removed from me personally) matters so much to me is that I'm shit at responding to people's feelings. It's a way I simulate the stimulation of interaction and escape doing real work to fix my problem IRL.

Ugh. He's the only Utena character I dislike. I guess in a show about gender roles and abuse you really need the classic "handsome prince/prom king/stud/whatever" who's really an insecure fuckboy who takes his self-loathing out on women, but he was not even slightly fun or interesting to me.
