Hahaha that reminds me of my grandpa. Gargle salt water for everything and spit on cuts. Cures what ails ya.

In his defense, it can help with sore throats and stuffed up noses!

I have heard this. My grandpa was more along the lines of, "Mouth ulcer? Gargle with salt water. Cold sore? Gargle with salt water. Stubbed your toe? Gargle with salt water." lol

Eh. Gargling with salt water's pretty much only useful to kill/dehydrate nasty stuff that might be living in your mouth. So depending on what the ulcer or cold sore was from, it might help. I doubt it does anything for stubbed toes, though.
