The only Disney one that REALLY makes me wtf is the Jungle Book.
Who the hell read the Jungle Book and thought to make it into a cutesy movie with singing animals? Who??

See, the weird thing is (and I know this makes no sense whatsoever), while the Hunchback of Notre Dame is also pretty wtf in terms of "why would you make this into a children's movie", it never quite made me ??? the way that the Jungle Book did. I don't know if it's because I was more aware of the original story at the beginning, or because the Disney version is actually surprisingly dark.
It was the Jungle Book that really made me wonder.

I believe Disney actually told everyone on the staff of The Jungle Book NOT to read the book.

I dunno, Hunchback was a bit tamed down compared to the source material.
