Harry Potter Headcanons

- Quick Quotes Quills, when used for a long time, start to absorb bits of the user's personality. Rita Skeeter's quill made up shit , said brutally honest opinions and misquoted people because that was part of her personality. Sort of like they sync to you.

-The British Wizarding society is really behind the times in comparison to other wizard societies, especially in their attitudes towards muggles and muggle things. The Wizarding Wars give them a good push in the right direction but some other countries have gotten past the "anti-muggle" attitude ages ago(for the most part).

-In the early days of colonization and American history, a lot of squibs and black sheep were shipped off to American relatives. Quite a few of the American branches of some pureblood families with Pro-DE attitudes in Britain have very different attitudes in America because they are made up of people who were ostracized and kicked out because of their British family's beliefs. People like Sirius Black were often sent to US relatives. Sirius either ran away before his family could, or Walburga Black was too prideful to send him because of the embarrassment it would cause and because it would mean admitting she "failed"

-Large amounts of wizards (like Hogwarts a whole wizard school)and magic in one place shorts out electronic devices, but a single wizard or even a magic family won't necessarily cause electronic devices to explode or malfunction. Also wizards in other countries have started to study this to find ways around it. British Wizarding society doesn't put as much effort into it because of the "anti-muggle" culture and because they think magic is all they need.

My America-in-HP headcanon is that the American wizarding world didn't separate from Britain like the muggle world did. As a result and a push back from the War of Independence the American wizarding world is incredibly patriotic, more so than their British counterparts.

Some of the wizards of the non - British colonies got together and formed their own country, some returned to their home lands or became part of the British one.

The difference to the muggle world causes quite a lot of problems for muggleborns, but also makes integration a lot easier because in the American wizarding world the most politically powerful are not purebloods, but those whose families were originally from the UK.
