Even though I'm American, I grew up reading a mix of both the British and American editions of Harry Potter. And I always found the differences in the language fascinating, not confusing -- seriously, it's really not that hard to figure out if people pay just a tiny bit of attention.

I don't know, I think it can be quite hard to capture the nuances of that difference. Especially when writing dialogue. Assuming you're not copying dialogue straight from the canon that is. :)

Yeah, I would always have someone Brit-pick something of mine before I posted, but some of the stuff I've seen in fics is just so obvious and easy to pick out.

I couldn't even deal with the American audiobook. I think because I'm so used to it being British. I felt like I was being gently stabbed to death in the ears.
