Re: Your weirdest ship

The thing with incest is not to take it seriously. You known, if you admit you ship Wincest offhandedly, people laugh because that just make you one of those fangirls - and honestly, the show is already joking about it so...

Serious pairings are trickier but if you say "it's creepy but I can see it", sometimes people admit they can see it too "even if it's pretty disgusting". Actually, I think it's easier to admit to shipping incest pairings to people who are not in fandom than to people on tumblr. They are squicked out but much less judgmental.

Yeah, the Hannibal books fandom is probably the most elitist fandom I know and I've been involved in the LOTR fandom, which means a lot. Even acknowledging you watch the show can mean you're not a real fan for some people. Then again I consider that the show and the books are too different things, just like the Hobbit movies are different from the book.

Well, thanks for the recs! I didn't want to watch the movie when I saw the trailer because I thought it was going to be a kid movie about spys and that's not really my thing. But you seemed to like it and since we share a lot of fandoms and I really liked First Class and Kickass, I wanted to give it a try. It was rather good, actually!

Yea, I suppose that's true. When the show itself jokes about it then that probably takes a bit of the awkwardness away.

Hmm, I didn't know tumblr wasn't so judgmental about incest ships? I think all the incest ships I was into happened before tumblr got popular, so I've never experienced the fandom of an incest ship on tumblr. Tumblr is so complicated that I have trouble keeping up with what they like and dislike. (Not that everyone on tumblr is a hive-mind or anything like that, just that...on some fandoms and subjects you're more likely to encounter certain perspectives.)

MTE, the book and the TV show are separate things and should be treated as such. The TV show doing something different isn't taking away their canon, the same way the Hobbit films not living up to people's expectations isn't harming the book itself. Some people get too worked up about these things.

Heh, I actually loved the trailer but by the time the film was out I kind of forgot about it and never made it to the theater. Now I regret it because I can't imagine how amazing a couple of the scenes would've been with a theater audience. I'm so disappointed that I didn't get to see the church scene in a group of moviegoers... It surprised me too though, and I even expected to like it!

That you sort of trust my taste is flattering, considering I know it is sometimes questionable, lmao.
