PLEASE MARRY ME. I LOVE YOU. THESE GAMES DESERVE A FANDOM. THEY ARE SO AWESOME.

Also...I'd love to be able to write a world...hot damn.

(seriously, why *isn't* there any fandom?? These games rocked me to my very core, and the characters were really cool and the story was just too good...
And they, from the very beginning, were just so damn GORGEOUS. Too bad that fully interactive games didn't start looking like that until a couple of years ago.)

Seriously, when I was playing through Eruyt Village and the Salikawood in FFXII? All I could think was "CHANNELWOOD. CHANNELWOOD. CHANNELWOOD. WTF."

CHANNELWOOD. BEST WORLD EVER ;3; It was so pretty. And yes, that sentiment whenever I'm in a wooded area of any game with that sort of atmosphere.

It also happened to me once in real life!

I went to Tofino (Vancouver Island, in Canada) and they have these boardwalk hikes and...well..search "tofino rainforest" on google, and you'll see what I mean.

...Hmmm...I kinda wish they would remake those games as regular platformers. NOT Uru...those sucked...but the regular games would be awsesome :D.

Also, I like the icon :Db.

(My other favorite worlds are Amataria and Edanna from Myst III: Exile. Riven pissed me off. Haven and Tomahna from Myst IV were pretty good. I never played Myst V.)

Having just googled it, I now really want to see that place. It looks gorgeous.

And I would love to see those games on Wii or something. I think they'd be EXCELLENT on a Wii or maybe PS3. But then I'm a terrible Wii fangirl, so I just would go for the interactivity. Uru was just... ugh. Screw the online features, I want my puzzles! Though some of the worlds in Uru were quite pretty.

(Ohhh Edanna... that place was so pretty. ♥ But yeah, Riven in general was kind of lacking. A lot. And yes, both of those were gorgeous~ I played IV and it was okay? But there was much less pretty in favor of being bleak and desolate.)

Yeah...but that's kind of the point of all the games, isn't it? Your all alone...except for some kind of hilarious filmed stuff...I loved how they did that.

There is something so tacky about it but so right at the same time.

Voltaic was uninteresting to me. The only level that I ever completely solved was Amataria in that one...(OH MY GOD THAT ENDING SEQUENCE WHEN YOU RIDE ON THE BALL WINNED)

Yeahhh...it would be nice to get some better interactivity out of those games--but they are kind of classics in a different sense, even if a lot of people don't care for them.

Oops, worded that wrong ^^' I meant that the worlds in IV were a lot less pretty and looked more like wastelands.

It's so awesome, I'd say. XD

Voltaic was just kind of blah, to me. I preferred the forested worlds or the ones with giant hunks of shiny rock sticking out of the ground. (YES. YES IT DID XD I loved that so much! Seriously, some of the video sequences would make such awesome motion simulation rides.)

Yeah -- honestly, those kind of games make me wish that things like holodecks were real. Those would be the BEST way to play a game like something in the Myst series.

A warning about ports... :( I recently got the DS port (it's a Europe release only) and dear god did it SUCK. I've got about a three page review that I'm writing for one of my English classes (it's allowed, I asked the teacher first) about the game (which inspired this secret XD!) about just how much it is MADE OF FAILURE.

I'd like to keep 'em on the PC.

I do like the player interaction idea in Uru though, the fact that it's an MMO with actual roleplaying instead of just stupid WoW style grinding is really cool.

They actually DID remake the original Myst as a semi-platformer! Same engine as Uru. It's called realMyst and its' kind of a rare find these days but from what I've seen it's GORGEOUS.

I wish there was a more hardcore fandom as well. Possibly with wank. There IS a fandom, but it's mostly message-board based around Uru live, and 99% of the fanfiction is self-insertion. Which I guess the games kinda encourage, but for god's sake you could make your Strangers less Sue-ish. The worst offender had a Sirrus being resurrected by Dream (Dream from Myst IV, not from Sandman XD) and then... falling in love with her Stranger. WTF!

Also, yes re: FFXII, I had the same reaction. Furthermore, bits of Bioshock make me thing "WHAT MECHANICAL AGE WHAT" and then parts of 'fing Kingdom Hearts... don't remind me of any Age in particular, but damned if Hollow Bastion isn't something Atrus could have written.
