Be careful with the abortion though. Yes, it is an important thing that should be available to women, but there are kids out there that would take it as an excuse to have unprotected sex. Same with the birth control. It doesn't always work, and you can't always trust your partner- look at Tabbie and Ratboy. I bet she would have gone as far to give him a condom with a hole in it. There are crazy people out there.

Yes there should be better education. Yes "abstinence only!!!" is a stupid thing to teach. But it's just as stupid as the teen sluts who think that having sex is more important than getting through school and making something of yourself before bringing a kid into the world (and that goes for dudes too).

Abortion IS a somewhat painful, traumatizing experience for many, though. Anyone who would use it as birth control is just... ridiculous. Not to mention, with the cost of health care in the US, expensive. :\ That's kinda the argument fundie morons use "OMG IF WE MAKE IT OKAY EVERYONE IS GOING TO HAVE THEM" when... really, it's not realistic.

I really think people should wait to have sex, but it's just not going to happen, because people don't share the ideals we do. xD;; But there is a VERY low failure rate with condoms, birth control, and things like Plan B if you want to be careful. Unplanned pregnancies happen, yes, but the statistics for teen pregnancy are fucking INSANE.

God, How many kids were pregnant in our school. I mean, over the course of four years, at least 10-12

True, true. But better to make it available and have lots of people have the resource and use it than the few crazy kids who will use it as an excuse, I guess.

Right, because who wants to spend a couple bucks on a pack of condoms when you can spend a couple hundred (and recovery time) on an abortion?

Im not saying that it's logical. I'm saying some girl will say "oh its no big deal, I'll have an abortion" and either won't be able to go out and do it, or will just use it as an excuse to have unprotected sex.

There's hardly any evidence for that. The majority of women who obtain abortions used some form of birth control, and I'm willing to bet (although, as far as I know, there haven't been any studies on this particular part) that the remaining percentage are not thinking that "oh, I'll just get an abortion, lol."

You have not met the idiot teenage girls around here. Given, we had a high rate of teenage pregnancies and that may not be the norm elsewhere (i swear, like 12 in 4 years? wtf), but around here? Oh god, it would be such an 'excuse'.

There's going to be a few exceptions in every case, obviously. A few anecdotal samples is not representative of the overall population.

Well, I'll let you in on a secret ;) the girl i'm responding to comes from my hometown. We went to school together and are aware of teh issues in our area regarding teenagers, sex, and pregnancy. So in me asying the above to her... is kind of like us talking about colloquialisms. I'm aware not all places have such a high rate of teen pregnancy as our hometown, but ... you know, it's kind of a thing that both of us would have an idea on, re; our area.

If you're speaking only about your area, that's true. But not everyone's going to know that you know the other user and that you're speaking only about your area -- which still would be highly skewed from your perspective -- so it still appears to be overall generalities.

Yeah, that's true. When we talk we... generally don't add disclaimers to what we're saying though XP
