16. While I do agree with the others saying that the man is ALWAYS just as at-fault (unless the woman lies about BC to get knocked up, but I'm not getting into that! XD), I think it's horribly selfish for any teenager to bring a child into the world when they don't have the maturity, financial security, or a loving family environment to raise it in. HOWEVER, a lot of it has to do with the lack of proper education, though, with the whole "abstinence only" bullshit. I think teens should be taught more about birth control, and I think abortion should be a far less "taboo" subject.

But I've known so many teen moms who use their age as an excuse to leech off the government and stick their kids in daycare while they go out and get drunk. It's sad.

Be careful with the abortion though. Yes, it is an important thing that should be available to women, but there are kids out there that would take it as an excuse to have unprotected sex. Same with the birth control. It doesn't always work, and you can't always trust your partner- look at Tabbie and Ratboy. I bet she would have gone as far to give him a condom with a hole in it. There are crazy people out there.

Yes there should be better education. Yes "abstinence only!!!" is a stupid thing to teach. But it's just as stupid as the teen sluts who think that having sex is more important than getting through school and making something of yourself before bringing a kid into the world (and that goes for dudes too).

Abortion IS a somewhat painful, traumatizing experience for many, though. Anyone who would use it as birth control is just... ridiculous. Not to mention, with the cost of health care in the US, expensive. :\ That's kinda the argument fundie morons use "OMG IF WE MAKE IT OKAY EVERYONE IS GOING TO HAVE THEM" when... really, it's not realistic.

I really think people should wait to have sex, but it's just not going to happen, because people don't share the ideals we do. xD;; But there is a VERY low failure rate with condoms, birth control, and things like Plan B if you want to be careful. Unplanned pregnancies happen, yes, but the statistics for teen pregnancy are fucking INSANE.

True, true. But better to make it available and have lots of people have the resource and use it than the few crazy kids who will use it as an excuse, I guess.

Im not saying that it's logical. I'm saying some girl will say "oh its no big deal, I'll have an abortion" and either won't be able to go out and do it, or will just use it as an excuse to have unprotected sex.

There's hardly any evidence for that. The majority of women who obtain abortions used some form of birth control, and I'm willing to bet (although, as far as I know, there haven't been any studies on this particular part) that the remaining percentage are not thinking that "oh, I'll just get an abortion, lol."

You have not met the idiot teenage girls around here. Given, we had a high rate of teenage pregnancies and that may not be the norm elsewhere (i swear, like 12 in 4 years? wtf), but around here? Oh god, it would be such an 'excuse'.

I would think that, judging from the secret in question, the issue at hand would be teenagers who get pregnant and not just those who wanted it or decide to go through with it.

Fuck your backward way of thinking. Teen parents can be good parents - age is NO indicator of maturity and/or how well you parent. I get props every day for the schedule I took on and how I balance it all. You try doing what I do daily - I doubt you could, at least not with grace.
So I guess my boyfriend's ADULT parents who were heroin addicts are just exceptions to the "ADULTS ONLY" rule of parenting children? Except SO many people are like that.

If you have the maturity, financial security and a loving family environment, then she's not talking about you. I can understand where she's coming from, though. On average, most teenage parents don't have the aforementioned maturity and financial security (though they may have a loving family) to properly raise a child. If you have all of those things, then kudos to you. You're not part of the average.

But please, if you want to get your point across, swearing and being insulting isn't the way to do it. It just makes you sound less mature than you claim to be.
