Marsha P. Johnson, irl black drag queen/trans activist (it's not totally clear how she would classify her gender identity in modern terms), generally credited with throwing the first brick. The leadership of the protests was heavy on trans women/drag queens of color in general, including Sylvia Rivera.

If she's there, and if they haven't done anything terrible in portraying her, I will be very relieved!

...now if only that could unmake the "black people aren't ~relatable~ enough" racism that's crawled out of the woodwork in the meantime.
