You kind of have to watch Better Off Ted to get why this secret is HILARIOUS.

Jonathan Slavin, the actor, plays one half of the comedy scientist buddy act that is Phil and Lem. They're the original Science Bros, only sweet, clueless, and maybe the funniest part of the show.

Even better? Slavin sounds exactly the way he looks.

Honestly, if you've got Netflix, I really recommend checking the show out. It's got 26 episodes total, and there aren't really any duds in the bunch. Too bad it was killed by the writer's strike.

If I'm reading any kind of Sherlock Holmes fic, I tend to insert whatever live action versions of the characters I saw last, with the exception of Elementary, since that never seems to impose itself on other versions in my mind. Usually it's the Jeremy Brett series versions of everyone showing up in Sherlock fic.

I've only seen a few episodes of Stargate Atlantis, but I've lost count how many times I've watched Better Off Ted.

I can't unsee this now.

I assume his last name is McKay too? That's kind of awkward, lol.

For some reason I can't explain, I don't usually have trouble thinking of the character I should be thinking about. Like, when I see Harry in Kingsman fandom, I never think of Harry Potter. It took me a bit to even release they shared a first name because while it might be the same, it feels and sounds different in my head. I guess it's the character attached to it.

Same for, say, John Sheppard (SGA) and John Shepard (Mass Effect).

Going by the other comments his name has nothing to do with the mixup? Well, this comment was pointless.

McShep is my OTP too. Now I kind of want to watch Better off Ted just to see XD But if it bothers you, you could always watch some SGA to try and get Rodney's "self" back in mind? IDK.

I have that sometimes too, where I'm reading fic and I'm trying to picture the actor but a slightly similar looking actor keeps popping up instead. If it persists, I've found it helps to look at a few pics of the actor you want, to sort of burn that image into your mind instead. It's like having a song stuck in your head; one way to get it out is by listening to another song.

This secret made me think of the episode "Lust in Translation"
