Not your guilty pleasures, but the things you do in the name of fandom that you kindasorta regret later.

Posting Fanfiction before the age of like 17, sort of. I don't regret writing it, but I regret a lot of stuff I did when I was young and immature, and often trying to fit in with other people.

But I can't totally regret it because it's a learning experience

Binge reading all the fics over one weekend so I have nothing to read for the rest of time.

All of my involvement in the Harry Potter ship wars. I was completely and totally the crazy shipper back then.

Yup. I still ship, but I mostly want nothing to do with the fandom. I can't believe I ever thought there was such a thing as "right and wrong shipping."

Although, TBH, I kind of reacted nearly the same way to the How I Met Your Mother final except that I don't think I've ever been rude to a Ted/Robin shipper (and there are a few of them). But that final was pretty universally disliked, so I'm not alone.

ayrt

Considering plenty of Ted/Robin shippers hated it...

I know people defends it with "that's just what real life's like" but even in real life we go "Wait, what?" at things like "oh, none of them are friends with her anymore" or "the playboy is a happy family man". And fiction has to make more sense than reality... which is kinda hard to do when you build things up a certain way for several seasons, stretch out one day over almost a whole season, and only go for the drastic changes in the last minutes. I would've quite happily accepted it if HIMYM had ended before, say, season 3 or 4. After that? Not really.

But hey, who cares how the characterization has evolved since then or what aesops we've gotten, this the ending we intended and screw everything else!

People like to rag on the HP epilogue, but at least it fit the characters for the most part.

Same, though tbh I feel like a large majority of us regret that. It isn't that bad in the scheme of things.

Less, now, but when I was younger I spent waaaaaaaay too much money on fandoms that I moved on from not long after. A lot of that stuff is just gathering dust now or has already been thrown out. That's why these days I really try to tone it down. I mostly just by t-shirts with fandom references on it, because I figure I have to buy clothing anyhow and by the time I'm sick of the fandom, the shirt will be due for replacement.

Trolling people for doing things I found objectionable and just basically acting like an asshole. (Because two wrongs TOTALLY make a right!)
