Nice bigotry there. She could have been butch and worn a classy suit. But nope, they had to make her femme, cause femme lesbians are less threatening to straight audiences.

If you seriously believe that Fuller gives a shit about not offending the straight audiences, you have obviously never watched the show.

I watched the first two seasons and I still think Margo was made femme to have a "wider appeal" (read: straight.) Butch women are often given the short end of the stick even in otherwise queer friendly material. And I am still mad about her sleeping with Will, so...

ALSO appealing to slash fangirls is not the same thing as actually writing and representing queer characters well.

Based on what? Two attractive women kissing?

The latest episode admitting that Hannibal is in love with Will. I don't think dudebros are very happy knowing that they had been tricked into watching three seasons of a gay love story.

I'd hardly call it a gay love story when "The villain has a homoerotic attraction to our wholesome heterosexual hero" is a long standing trope with lots of unfortunate implications.

I think it's way more complex than that. The homoerotic attraction goes both ways here. Does Will want to have sex with Hannibal? Probably not. But Hannibal doesn't want to have sex with Will either. He wants a soulmate and I think there are times when Will thinks Hannibal could be his soulmate too.

Exactly. They are drawn to each other in ways I don't think either really understands (though maybe Hannibal gets it more than Will). I get why many fans want to make it sexual, but it doesn't need to be. It is so much more than that. And it does go both ways.

A.) at this point only the most devoted of fans are watching and it's the second to last episode before cancellation. So there's not a whole lot of risk left this late in the game.

B.) "Could he daily feel a stab of hunger for you, and find nourishment at the very sight of you? Yes." Is not the equivalent of Hannibal actually having homosexual feelings for Will. Hannibal's always been about making Will like him, he doesn't want to bone him.

Just for the record, "homosexual feelings" is a pretty unpleasant way of referring to a man loving/being attracted to another man, bordering on rude. The term "homosexual" has fallen out of vogue due to the medicalized history of the word.

Also, Hannibal loving Will is hardly an irrational interpretation. Multiple people involved with the show have stated that Hannibal loves Will romantically (including Fuller and Hannibal's actor, Mads Mikkelsen), and iirc Will does have some canon not-entirely-platonic feelings for Hannibal as well.
