The second part was really only a reply to the idea that I should be building a case to defend my position. When, no, I really don't have to.

i think you do have to build a case and defend the position if you actually want to advance it as a moral position. like, if there's going to be a conversation.

if you just don't feel like talking about it right now, that's a different matter

I think people are more replying to the "People can have different moral positions" part of it

If you had just said "Sure, whatever, but I don't want to talk about it right now" or "I don't think it's relevant" or "Whether or not it's wrong, it's not really necessary for OP to think about it that way right now" that'd be one thing but like. "Everyone can have a different set of morals" is a really bad reply when someone says something is immoral.
