Chopped

Does anyone watch this show? Was anyone else really disappointed with the whole Grill Masters Championship? Usually the championship type episodes involve really good cooking and chefs who are at the top of their game. And this just felt really lackluster. It seemed like the final four were only there by default because everyone else did worse, not because they were cooking good food.

Didn't watch that episode but that's a bummer. The show is definitely at its best when the chefs are all at the top of their game and everyone is being super intense and, like, the main problem is whether they can execute the insane stuff they've dreamed up in the short time possible.

I usually kind of skip out on the gimmicky stuff, because I feel like it leads to lackluster competition. And I think the grill-type episodes just compound that.

I think it might have been because they had mostly chefs who do barbecue competitions and aren't necessarily as skilled with anything but the meat cooking.

I like the championships that are about top level chefs competing for charity because usually you get really quality food.

I still watch every episode, though. This show is addictive. Cooking shows in general are.

Edit: Okay, I'm going to take this all back a little. This all is true about the qualifiers. But I'm watching the final now and they are all cooking amazing food. I'm kind of shocked given how lackluster the previous episodes were.

That show can be fun, but I hate when they cut themselves and the camera shows all the gorey bits.

Yes, I can see how that would bother people. I'm not particularly squeemish and I don't mind the sight of blood. But if you are grossed out by blood then that would be a problem. And considering it is a cooking show they probably should avoid showing gore.

That one episode where one of the chefs got blood on the plate, ughhh. I felt so bad for the judges. (Also what a terrible way to get chopped, their food might have been great)

I think I've seen like four episodes where a chef got chopped for bleeding on their food. So gross. Like, why would you not put gloves on and make sure you aren't bleeding on the food. The sight of blood doesn't bother me, but the idea of someone else's blood being in my food is nasty.
