S: I've seen my favorite band in concert four times in the past six months and I had special VIP tickets twice, but I still feel jealous when I see pictures of people at concerts I couldn't go to.

SB: I'm fully aware that there are fans who haven't been able to see them even once, so I should be counting my blessings instead of whining about not being even luckier than I already have been, but I can't help how I feel.

That is a silly thing to feel guilty for. Unless you are reblogging their pics with tags like, "LOOK AT THIS ASSHOLE WHO I HATE!" Then, yeah, feel guilty.

There's nothing wrong with that. I would see my favorite artist like a million times if I could.

but I can't, because she barely plays any shows, and also all her sets are like 45 minutes long. the difficulties of being a fan of an artist who kind of hates public performances i guess. (i'm fine with it, because she should do what she wants and if she never played a show again that's her call not mine, but you know how it is) (this isn't really a part of your post, i'm just talking to talk now i guess)

I'm like that with cons I can't go to. I go to three cons a year, flying every time, wtf, I'm very fortunate.

But the one I don't go to always seems cooler.

I've been to around 30 concerts in my life, and plan to go to many more, but it mostly just baffles me when I hear people talk about how they go to several every month. I mean, yeah, I'm partly a bit jealous, but I also have to think "How?"

I generally like hearing about other people's concert experiences, though, regardless of whether or not I even like the band they saw.

When I was younger (teens - university age) and had a lot more free time/could bounce back from long trips more easily I went to several a month. The funny thing is I have more money now so if I did that now I wouldn't be counting my pennies but I'm knackered after just one night out, plus I have work commitments. I know I could use my time off but I'd rather use that for actual holidays rather than following a band around. Basically getting older and responsibility got me good!

Like OP I got a handful of VIP passes for a couple of my favorite bands back in the day but I still got really bratty over gigs I couldn't go to because I had exams or whatever. Teenagers eh? Now I feel sad about stuff I couldn't go to so I get what OP is saying because I think: shouldn't I be grateful for the experiences I did have? I miss having the time and energy sometimes.

You mean about the money or about the time / energy?
Because on one hand I have a friend who got to know musicians who know musicians (none of them famous though some at least are pro), and now she sees a lot of concerts, but refuses to pay 80 Eur for our common favorite band because she's gotten used to free gigs (or bar gigs where basically you pay by buying a couple of beers), or gigs that are at 20 Eur.

On the other there's me, who tends to only discover and like artists who sadly have been discovered and adored by millions, so shows are rarely below 40 Eur, and that's a minimum. Obviously, unless you're very wealthy, you don't attend as many concerts if you're a fan of stars that issue tickets at 100$ and you have to travel to see them, or if you're a fan of indie-semi-amateur bands that tour in local bars ever week-end.
