I'm with you. There are some elements I'm hopeful for, but others that are just sooo uncomfortable. And on top of that, you can't voice discomfort without people jumping down your throat about being an "SJW" or "hating change".
I love almost every game in this series, and I mean out of the whole series. If I hated change, I wouldn't still be here. I'm just deeply uncomfortable with pandering to people who find "bang your 10 year old supposed sister" at all OK.

Not really? The passive aggressive "friendly reminder" in response to this, when they didn't even say it was a first time thing, was pretty snitty. Nobody anywhere is acting like incest is news to FE, though the series' reputation for it is really overblown. They're saying that pandering to the demographic that gets off on it is. Just like dragon girls weren't news, but having sex with dragon girls in lingerie was.

I'm more worried about SJWs bitching at me because I plan on buying the game. Apparently if I don't swear it off entirely for problematic plotlines I'm going to avoid like hell or never encounter (since I'm playing as the opposite gender of the supports those problems appear in) I'm TEH EVIL and clearly supporting these horrible things like incest/pedo/homophobia. I disagree strongly with the problematic things, and am going to do everything possible to never have them in my game, but I've already gotten SJWs yelling at me for saying I'm still buying it and looking forward to it. Because clearly I cannot like things that I know are hella problematic. As if FE as a series has never had anything questionable in it before now.

Yeah, same... There's a lot of aspects make me uncomfortable and I'm not okay with, but overall I see more good than bad, so ??? (and I have my fingers crossed that the localization will tweak if not changes them)

(not to mention some of the said "problematic" aspects of it are exaggerated to sound WAY WORSE by people who aren't interested in FE in the first place and are jumping on it because it's "the new Problematic Thing" to decry)

I don't know where the fuck you've been because the Soliel wank was so bad that it got picked up by gaming news places like Kotaku. A day doesn't go by that I don't see people bitching in the tags about Shara/Syalla/Zero/skinship/OMGNOES INNNCESSSST.

It's managed to beat Awakening's level of wank on tumblr, and that's saying something as Awakening fandom was filled with people wanking about how horrible and evil and unfeminist it was.

What's puzzled me for a while is that people who boycott series like Soulcalibur because of the fanservicey designs or complain about Eschergirls-style comic book art don't seem to have a problem with Fire Emblem's dabbling in the same. I mean, FE has a lot of fully-clothed female knight characters, but some of the support roles have really cheesecakey designs or wear clothes that just look impractical.

I think people kind of overlook the fanservice parts because they like the game series and it's made by Nintendo.
