Re: Men with guns

Because men are taught (at least in my culture) that they're better than women. That women are "property". That men are entitled to women. Women are taught that they are worthless without men. Boys are taught to respect and seek power.

So when a woman refuses a man, that man feels entitled to decide what happens to that woman.

A lot of men commit acts of violence against women because of this. I don't think guns are always the first choice. It's just that when guns are used, there are more casualities, so people pay more attention.
Guns are easy... all you need to do is pull a trigger. Knives and fists only work if you're fast and strong enough. They're easier to run away from, harder to land a deadly blow with.
With a gun, you don't have to get close. You can see your victims as targets, not as people. It's fast.
More importantly, nowadays guns are easier to obtain than they have been in the past. Guns are somehow acceptable, even in places where they're illegal... People respect guns more than they respect human lives, because guns are seen as the ultimate tool for domination.

Is your culture america?

Fuck off. Everyone's culture teaches that.

Unless you're talking about handling it by way of guns, cause then you have a point.

But...most mass shooters kill indiscriminately. Hell, even that one guy recently who feminists were touting as PROOF that MRAs are murderers, killed more men than women.

That doesn't disprove toxic masculinity. Why is violent madness OK when it's male on male?

Are you being deliberately obtuse? AYRT is not trying to "disprove toxic masculinity;" they're specifically addressing a post that tries to explain gun violence in terms of men supposedly believing that women are inferior to men and that they're property to which men are entitled. How is that supposed to explain male on male violence?

I thought this was a discussion about toxic masculinity.

"Why are mass shootings so much more common among men than women?"

Making it about attacking women misses most of the victims of mass shootings.

because more men happened to be the people in the area he was shooting, people keep repeating that "he killed more men than women!" as if that disproves his attack was motivated by a hatred of women when I doubt he was keeping track as he swept his gun left and right and shot. someone who bombs a public building after writing a manifesto against let's say black people, doesn't negate the purpose of his attack just because there happened to be more white people in the building at the time of the explosion. very CLEARLY that MRA nutjob hated women, he was just willing to sacrifice men as well.

No. He specifically killed his roommates who were all men.

so that proves he didn't hate women? please.
