+1

And most of that portion seems to think the problem is "it's only ever about cis characters, nobody writes trans!fic," when they would find plenty of trans!fic if they would only take five minutes to look for it.

I don't think they want to find it. If they did they wouldn't be able to be so angry anymore.

Yeah, that's always the catch, isn't it.

No, then they would get angry at the author "getting it wrong".

Bingo! Even if they're trans. Hell, especially if they're trans!

That portion is so dumb because they imagine it's the same visual/writing kink that can stand in for genswitch. Like, sorry most people don't enjoy cardboard cutout trans* stories that read like Ryan Murphy ham-handing it for the sake of "equality".

I mean, I've read plenty of non-preachy, in-character trans!fics. But yeah, it's not like there's a 1:1 equivalence. A cracky fantasy genderswap scenario isn't going to have the same effect as a serious and thoughtful treatment of a character who grew up trans, and if you're in the mood for one of them, you're probably not looking for the other.

Sometimes within the same blog! It might even be the same person behind both. Wow!
