ha! the more you know. I just assumed it was another "two main white male characters, SLASH GO!" ship where the writers might do some baiting but would never actually make it canon.

that actually sounds like a pretty cool story.

Yea, I don't think it is anything remotely like one of those ships! Even saying there's lots of subtext would be incorrect, because there's text too (And it isn't included as a joke).

I mean, I understand if people don't ship it because this is one of the most screwed up, disturbing relationships I've ever seen (and I'm amazed that some of these scenes aired on NBC in the first place), but even so there's lots of really complex emotions between the two and there's a heavy air of intimacy and longing during some of their scenes. To me, their interactions just make more sense if you think of them as both harboring romantic feelings for each other, there's just no consummation until they kill together. (Which for them is better than sex anyway, I imagine.)
