Not the OP, but if the high school fic was done as a request or exchange fic, it would be a little different.

But not everybody likes the same things, that's a fact. If an author has written even just one fic in a genre I don't like and go out of my way to avoid, it's natural to be a little cautious of the rest of their work as well.
