The obtuse answer is kind if funny. He's a ftm. He's not going to have the same bits as a cisman. You can pretend all day long a ftm is totes the same as a cisman, but they aren't. Not everyone is capable of ignoring their own sexuality because the ~only thing that should matter~ is their ~male soul~ or whatever. It can be an issue, and pretending it isn't is pretty insulting.

Transphobes are not welcome here, shoo

(Anonymous) 2015-09-01 11:57 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm not transphobic. If you think not dating someone because their trans is transphobic, then you have issues you need to work out. Treating someone as the gender they wish to be treated as and letting them into your bed are two totally different things. What you do with your body is your own, and should never be an 'equal opportunity' affair. The mere thought of that is skeevy as hell and is insulting to the person in question.

they're*

(Anonymous) 2015-09-02 12:04 am (UTC)(link)
You are not transphobic for not dating trans, you are because you are mocking them with shit like "~male soul~"

(Anonymous) 2015-09-02 12:29 am (UTC)(link)
DA

I didn't read "male soul" as mocking. /2 cents

(Anonymous) 2015-09-02 08:26 pm (UTC)(link)
Fucking this. Who knew that having preferences was *-phobic.

(Anonymous) 2015-09-01 11:59 pm (UTC)(link)
That's transphobic on the same level that pointing out how some people actually don't fit into airplane seats is fatphobic. Physical reality is still there.

(Anonymous) 2015-09-02 12:30 am (UTC)(link)
Er... it's fatphobic to say some people don't fit in airplane seats? What does fear have to do with that? Seems more a statement of fact than a fear response.

-phobic has apparently shifted away from "fear of" and toward "seemingly unjust dislike/hatred of"

(Anonymous) 2015-09-02 12:39 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, thanks, anon. I know a living language changes, but I find that bit annoying. How calling something x-phobic means "you hate this when you shouldn't, you're just a big bully". (And in several cases there is reverse bullying going on.)

I'm just a middle-aged fuddy duddy.

(Anonymous) 2015-09-02 03:52 am (UTC)(link)
It's not a shift, ".phobic" has always denoted both fear and antipathy/aversion to. Do you think hydrophobic surfaces are SCARED of water?
