Egyptology/Ancient Egyptian history, OP? It's a fascinating subject, I agree. The only fandoms I can think of wouldn't be large or active, unfortunately. I'd love to see The Mummy fanfic written by someone who's actually interested putting in more historical facts. There's also the Amelia Peabody series by Elizabeth Peters, set in Victorian times but mostly taking place in Egypt.

I kind of agree, to be honest! I mean not all yaoi characters are alike obviously, but I really do like seeing gentle, kind-hearted pretty-boys in gay romances.
