I can think of a few characters like that from anime/Japanese games, but to be honest, most of them are in subtle "non-canon" gay relationships so... lol.

Aang has some more "feminine" traits -- he's very caring and nurturing (also a vegetarian)

I'd argue that Kenzo Tenma has shades of this as well given that he goes around the German countryside tending to people (admittedly, while hunting Johan…)

I have family members who insist on eating at Chick-Fil-A despite their anti-gay-ness, and as a bi person it bothers me. My mom even called me a hypocrite the other day because I shop at grocery stores that we've heard some not so great things about (the difference is that where I live we only have a few options, I've heard equally bad things about all of them, and I still have to eat). Eating at Chick-Fil-A is not necessary for life.

I've been told that I'm being stupid for caring about this, but knowing the horrible organizations Chick-Fil-A donates to, I really don't care to give them money, and I don't see why that's so unreasonable.

What do you guys think?

Giving comments to art posted on Tumblr

I mostly lurk on Tumblr, so maybe I'm missing something obvious but Google wasn't very helpful.

Supposedly there's an unwritten rule of Tumblr that if you reblog art from an artist's blog, you're not supposed to post your comments in the post. Instead you should put them in the tags. I follow several artists on Tumblr and this is the first time I've heard of this. Why shouldn't you add comments in the actual post?

Ok, my day has had a lot of potentail wins turn into huge fucking sucking awefullness. Like so:

I finished a huge painting project! YAY!
... ... said painting ruined an electrical connection which means that, fuck it, we'll probably have to open up the wall again to fix the wiring.

I scheduled builders for a project my landlord (= my mom) wanted me to take care of!
... ... said project will, if in the form she wanted, require the builders to remove one of her favorite trees. Fuuuuuuuck it.


I answered each and every student email! I'm on top of things!
... ... also got the email telling me I'm not employed next semester. Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck everything.

Straight Outta Compton

Just got back from seeing this finally. I only ever see one movie in the theaters per year and this was 2015's -- I made the right choice.

As a detailed account of history it's got some omissions, for example the group's issues with misogyny and homophobia are completely glossed over and Dre assaulting Dee Barnes simply isn't depicted, and a few minor details were changed for dramatic value (the big one being how the group was arrested in Detroit) or comedic value ("Bye Felicia.") But I knew that going in, and as a semi-autobiographical biopic it's a pretty representative look at the history of NWA, and the ugly background it came out of with crushing poverty and an almost cartoonishly violent and corrupt police force.

I think if anyone's interested in hip-hop it's worthwhile to see this movie and become familiar with the history of the group and their splitting up. While Dre and Ice Cube get lots of focus (the scene where Dre learns his brother died was brutal) the movie seemed to be mostly about Eazy-E than anything else, and as tragic characters go it doesn't get more tragic than Eazy. (Side note: Give Jason Mitchell a friggin' award.) I also have to give O'Shea Jackson Jr. props for putting in the work and giving a really strong portrayal of his dad. And R. Marcus Taylor is really menacing yet he STILL doesn't manage to be as scary as the actual Suge Knight -- which probably says more about Knight than it does Taylor.

Also, it was just fun to hear all those songs I know. The (acted) Tupac and Snoop cameos were fun, too, and I'm looking forward to seeing if that planned Tupac-focused sequel gets made.

Anyone else see it? Thoughts?
