Tricks of the Trade: Wow. For being just shy of 300 words, you really pack a lot of Vala's personality in there! I think you drew a great parallel between the way she picks locks and the way she deals with men. My only quibble is at the end: I think you're implying that what she wants is Daniel's heart, and that's harder to break into than anything? It's been a long time since I"ve seen the series, so that could have been a little clearer. But if that's the way it is, I guess I still got it! :D

Although I'm not familiar with the fandom, I read Tricks of the Trade because your summary intrigued me. As a snippet of a character's backstory, it works very well and gives a good sense of her motives and what she is like as a person. I especially loved the last line - just three words; simple and to the point, but it perfectly encapsulates the feel of the fic as a whole.

And just so you know, I've put your 7th Heaven/BtVS fic on my to-read list (though I don't know when I'll get around to reading it, since my list is very, very long). It's the crossover I never knew I wanted until now!

Hahaha, that's pretty much how I felt when I started writing the crossover! Hope you enjoy it when you get to it. And so glad you liked Tricks of the Trade, too.
