It's not about consent. It's about control and loss thereof. Older man/younger woman dubcon is one of my bulletproof kinks for several reasons: a) it's super hot to imagine a lover skilled enough to convince you to give in even though you shouldn't, and b) it's an escapist triumph over inhibitions.

When it comes to fanfiction, the real agents are the writer and reader, not the characters. The reader wants to live vicariously through the characters or enjoy them voyeuristically; either way, you get off to the idea of being able to shed the too-tight skin of the superego and wallow in the totally carnal delights of the id. In a recent thread -- perhaps on here, or maybe it was on tumblr -- someone was saying that readers and writers of this kind of fic tend to imagine things from the point of view of the woman (/coerced character). In that case, the reader really, really WANTS to be coerced, and the fic allows that to happen in a controlled setting (the "control" being that you know it's going to be great, you know there are no real-world consequences for your surrender, and everybody goes home happy).

I hope that was halfway coherent....
