Even series that have shorter runs so they don't have to drag out the plot? I started Downton Abbey and was honestly shocked at how fast it moves. You mean they don't have to drag out the same plotline for 22 hour-long episodes? They don't have to rehash the same ol' shit season after season to fill time? Will-they-or-won't-they gets solved in <4 episodes? Holy shit!

(This is also me taking an opportunity to ask for historical setting short episode run series. Been catching Poldark. Loved North and South with Richard Armitage and Pillars of the Earth.)

I'm obligated to mention Boardwalk Empire since it's my friend's favorite show ever. It might be a bit longer than you're looking for but it's ended (that always makes me more likely to get into a show; no feeling like I'm committing to something that might go on and on) and I enjoyed it.
