I have no problem with any other medium. Movies, comics, 50 chapter fanfics. I don't know what it is about television that I just can't keep going with.

Cartoons, I can give or take, but even then I don't watch nearly as many of them as I used to even a year ago. I think the only ones I'm looking forward to are GOTG: TAS and being able to legally watch Thunderbirds are Go. :/

Plus I just wish there were more shows that had a strong story arc planned from the start instead of just going on and on for as long as the ratings are high enough.

(This is also me taking an opportunity to ask for historical setting short episode run series. Been catching Poldark. Loved North and South with Richard Armitage and Pillars of the Earth.)

The only reason I was even able to finish Daredevil (other than it was really, really compelling) was because it was short with only 13 episodes.
I also have big problems with how TV as a medium is set up -- i.e. it's all centered around commercials.

So I love tv, but I almost need to be in from the very beginning. (Watching once a week feels more manageable to me than binge-watching 130 episodes. In those cases, if I DO love the show, I'm going to have more incentive to watch and the re-watch won't feel quite so staggering because I already know I'm going to enjoy myself.)

(Anonymous) 2015-09-05 12:09 am (UTC)(link)The only time I can watch TV is when I'm eating or knitting. Otherwise it feels wrong just to be sitting there with my hands doing nothing. I can't concentrate. It can take me several days to finish just one half hour episode.
And I live in the UK, the land of the short TV series. I can't imagine facing a US series of 22 episodes and getting through them all.

I think it's similar to what someone above said, that I like my entertainment to be somewhat active.

(Anonymous) 2015-09-05 10:40 am (UTC)(link)I sat and read the entire Song of Ice and Fire books one after another and yet I just don't have the attention span to watch TV. I have at least three boxsets, so no commercials to distract me, which I've been meaning to watch for the last five to ten years and I can't do it.
