I have a similar problem, except that it's not so much ALL television as it is most television. Mainly my problem seems to be that I find the vast majority of TV shows either too fluffy and directionless (entertainment but not much more than that) or too cynical (people are selfish and/or ruthless by nature, true generosity and bravery never seem to make much of an appearance, etcetera). Neither one of those modes of story telling to much for me, so I usually end up losing interest in more shows (or at least mainstream network shows anyway).
