The most embarrassing thing I’ve done on the internet (so far) is either making a fursona when I was a kid or writing non-satirical politician RPF.
- I knew about furries but didn’t think fursonas were mainly a furry thing because I first saw fursonas on a virtual pet site (dogs)
- I tell myself that RPF was for shits and giggles but I still cringe

Fursonas are fun though. I've never been much into furries or kin stuff, but they're a pretty good way to maintain anonymity while still having an author insert sort of thing. I made mine since a couple manga authors I liked used bunnies, cows, and whatnot to represent themselves and I was pretty deep into the Pokemon fandom too where "pokesonas" were common. Never felt ashamed or anything by it.

Was yours a Pokesona? What was it?

(Never made one myself, just curious - especially because I like Pokemon gijinka a lot.)

I went through several that weren't Pokemon, but I did have a Sandshrew sona at one point.

I still have a (non-fandom) one actually, but I only really use it for stress doodles.

Eh, there was this stage where nearly everyone had a fursona. Although they weren't called that? I think i called mine an avatar. Also a dragon stage and a lion king stage and an anime stage...

But it wasn't really associated with furries, it was just...some sort of weird phase the majority of people went through with an anthro representation of themselves! I think most of us grew out of it.

One of my first fandoms was bandom so I look at how hated RPF/RPS is now with bemusement. Political RPF is not that bad a sin.

I still check in with bandom and read that and some other celebrity RPF/RPS. It's because I wrote silly SFW one-shot slashfics. I guess I should be more ashamed of smut, but I don't write smut for any fandom anyway.

Wouldn't be surprised if there's something else more embarrassing I forgot about or didn't personally consider embarrassing.

I've written a lot of RPF... and a lot of rare RPF (as in I'm the only one who's written it that I've ever found) and for the longest time had a love/hate relationship with my drive to write it.

Now, I'm over it. I still kind of get a little embarrassed of it, but occasionally the bug will bite me again and I'll go for it because - WHY NOT?
