Wait, so you're saying other people on other machines are negatively affecting your experiences...? I'm not sure I understand how.

Devs make games people will buy. Most people have older, weaker machines. Devs make games that older, weaker machines can run, which means making compromises(graphics quality, effects quality, draw distance, objects onscreen at once, etc.). That sucks for people with newer, stronger machines that COULD handle more demanding games if they were given the chance.

I don't share OP's values, but they do have a point.

Ah, okay. Yeah, that does make sense, and yeah I also disagree. Just because something exists doesn't mean it's profitable. Once those machines become more affordable, games will come out for them, so it's not like that will never happen - it kinda sounds like OP just wants the privilege of being able to do it before everyone else.

No, we've had stagnant PC game specs for three reasons:

1. The console market is larger than the PC market.
2. The laptop market is bigger than the desktop market.
3. The market isn't terribly interested in innovation.
