The current date of Australia Day could have been thought out better. It should be on a less offensive date, since not everyone will celebrate the day of an invasion. Maybe one of the other historical days of note. Or put it later in the year when none of the other holidays are on and we are all desperately wanting a holiday.

Like, how difficult is it to just make it on some other day? Why do people insist on keeping invasion day?

We could easily move it to New Years Day, in remembrance of Federation.

Hoo boy. When my province was a country, July 1 was Memorial Day, for the WWI battle of Beaumont Hamel. Guess what July 1 is now that we're a part of Confederation? Fun and fireworks and music and Canada Day! A lot of people attend Memorial Day/wreath-laying ceremonies in the morning, and Canada Day celebrations at night/in the afternoon. I think we shouldn't do Canada Day at all. This is my unpopular holiday opinion.
