The plot of almost every episode was either:

1. One of the Friends begins deviating from their accepted narrow social norms in some way, and is mocked and shamed until they resume conformity.

2. One of the Friends dates someone who deviates from their accepted narrow social norms in some way, and the Friend dating them is mocked and shamed until they break up.

That's past bland and into, by my lights, actively evil.
