Embrace it. My little sister has developed the sickness, and it gives me someone to watch all the terrible anime and browse managa with.

I never quite understand why it is that people who get into anime/manga get into ALL the anime/manga, rather than just "this one show/comic which happens to be anime or manga."

Some of us do, but we're not the ones who go around talking about "anime/manga" because we're not "anime/manga" fans, we're "[that one title]" fans.

A fan of Avengers is not the same as a movie buff.

That makes sense. I guess it's also more likely for someone to suddenly and all at once take a fannish interest in a huge chunk of media they've never been exposed to before, rather than suddenly become obsessed with movies when they've been casually watching movies since they were young children.

Yup. You see it with a lot of non-English fandoms, or ESL people finding English fandoms, or even Americans discovering British shows. "Look at all this I never knew existed! Omggg"

I think it's sort of the same idea as a "gamer" not actually being a fan of all games ever, it's just a big enough part of their life to use the label?

Sit her down and force her to watch Sonichu videos A Clockwork Orange style for 24 hours straight.
