I legit don't understand this. What appeals to you about those ships?

(Anonymous) 2015-09-08 10:55 pm (UTC)(link)
The characters? The dynamics? and most of all, the gayness? I only find same-sex stuff hot, for one, I'm sure if I'd been born a guy I'd still be gay. Het does nothing for me, except massively turn me off. Lesbian pairings make me feel a little skeptical about whether it's genuine, or made my a dude and targeted toward men. Plus, I think penises are more interesting in porn, they seem like a more "outward" expression of sexual arousal than what you get with women. And finally, dating and having sex with women is my real life, it feels too "close" to read about, I'd rather read something that's more of a crazy fantasy that has some distance from my real life, if that makes sense.

That's cool. Thanks for the reply.

It really is just something I kind of wonder about, just because for me it's legit hard to imagine getting really invested in a ship if there isn't that basis there of attraction to at least one and preferably both characters.

Similar, that's a really good way of rationalising all of it, makes sense more to me why I like it too, since it's not about me wanting to fuck them.

I like soooome m/f and f/f too, but mostly m/m..

I'm not really into m/m visual porn though, I like there to be at least one hot woman I can ogle.

NAYRT

The personalities behind them, maybe? I mean, that's the only reason reason F/F ships and 80 percent of the reason M/M ships appeal to me, a hetty het het girl.

(Anonymous) 2015-09-08 11:01 pm (UTC)(link)
I mean I similarly wouldn't understand why a het girl would get invested in a serious way in an F/F ship

JUST TO BE CLEAR HERE I am specifically talking about getting really invested in a ship, not about approving of it or liking it or wanting to read stories about it, but specifically that thing where you're really deeply feeling a ship that OP is talking about

(Anonymous) 2015-09-09 01:42 am (UTC)(link)
This is me. I'm straight, and I don't really read much in the way of femslash fic and don't get to that level of investment in it.

I think it's mainly just that, for me, since I'm not attracted to women in that way, it's hard for me to really get into that mindset as a result. And someone's comment above about trying to find stories about lesbian relationships that aren't just there as "hot chicks for guys to fap to" makes sense, too-if and when I do read any female/female pairings, I definitely prefer stories that treat their romance as a genuine thing.

Course, I want that in any romance story I read, regardless of the genders involved, so...

Lesbians reading/writing/watching M/M porn is actually a relatively common thing. Take from it what you will, I guess.

(Anonymous) 2015-09-08 11:11 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I've seen it around a good bit, but it's something that's never quite made sense to me.

(Anonymous) 2015-09-09 09:48 am (UTC)(link)
I've met so many lesbians who mainly ship m/m.

I like it, because it provides variety to the slash community. I'm bi myself and I'd rather not be stuck with 100% straight female slash shippers. It feels a little lonely, and part of why I like fandom is that it's easier to meet non-straights here then in my real life.

I was gonna say same as anon - reading f/f is way too close to IRL and I prefer a bit of distance in my fantasies.

That and when most shows only have like 1 girl and 5 guys...

(Anonymous) 2015-09-09 12:54 am (UTC)(link)
Why do people have to explain themselves to you?

(Anonymous) 2015-09-09 01:01 am (UTC)(link)
They don't.

I asked a question because I was curious and didn't understand a thing, not because I thought the thing was bad. If someone doesn't want to answer, what am I going to do? Come after them like the Spanish Inquisition?

(Anonymous) 2015-09-09 08:53 am (UTC)(link)
Chill. I'm anon they replied to and f!s is a place for conversation. People can ask whatever they want, no need to get your panties in a twist over it.
