What's your beef with Alien if you don't mind my asking? (I can guess where you're coming from with Evil Dead though.)

It Follows was very very well done. Saw it in theatres with the gf, was not unhappy to have spent theatre money on it.

I plan to watch it very soon. Also heard good things about The Guest for similar reasons.

Was just about to mention It Follows. Simple, engaging, and creepy. Reminded me a bit of anime and manga in the way that it took a given supernatural premise and had fun exploring the implications and applications thereof.

I didn't care for the pace. Granted, I didn't finish it, so I can't really judge all its merits or faults but I lost all interest before it ever got good because it was so slow.

I was expecting something more along the lines of "body horror squicks me out" or something, which I would have understood. :/

Maybe watch it with friends? Sit through it, then you can watch Aliens which should be much more appealing to you pace-wise.

I'm just going to retract all my suggestions except 28 Days Later. I like movies that have a good buildup.

Jacob's Ladder is a goddamned masterpiece. I still think about that gurney trip through the hospital hallways from time to time and get a chill.
