Ugh, my sympathies. I assume you can't turn off the heat to your room or open the window. Can you get a pedestal fan?

I'm not sure how to talk to them except say that you are finding it hard to sleep because of the heat, could they help make your room cooler in the meantime. It's not like you're choosing to not sleep.

We have an alarm. And it is 95 degrees outside, so I don't think opening the window would help. I have a ceiling fan, but maybe I could ask them if we could get a pedastal fan too.

I was in Boston, but I've moved home to San Antonio, Texas. It won't cool off for another month at least. I hate it here, honestly. I can't wait to find a job so I can be gone.

That's a hell of a difference. I was born in Michigan and just being in Cincinnati has been torture for 25 years.

My sympathies: I also live in SA and I hate it. 10 months of inferno

Also, as someone who moved to the tropics for a few years... I got used to sleeping with the heat, but it did take me a while to change. I slept naked with a cotton waffle weave blanket. Probably doesn't help you.

Also, if your parents are prepared to use such a colossal amount of energy to keep the house that warm, what about a portable A/C to cool it? Though you're probably skint.

They aren't using energy to keep it warm. It is 95 degrees outside, so even keeping it at 80 cools it a little. Just not nearly enough for me.
