So much this.

One author in my fandom posts constant updates about her process in an attempt to get readers excited about her newest chapter.

"Writing the last paragraph!"
"Now I'm editing!"
"Now I'm going to have a sandwich and edit again!"
"I'm going to post in five minutes!"
"I'm going to post in three minutes!"
"T-Minus two minutes to new chapter!"
"Hehe! I couldn't wait! Here it is!"

All of this in less than an hour. A new post every time. And her writing is shit. If she put half as much effort into writing as this crap, she might be readable.

I blocked her and never looked back.

It does tend to be the shit writers who pull these tedious micro updates. I thought I was just really intolerant, but no, it's genuinely super annoying, isn't it?

Arrgh! Shut up, fic wtiters, and just post your effing fic!

The problem I think most of these writers have is that they don't understand how much time and effort good fic takes. Everything has to be instant gratification. Thus both the annoying updates and the bad fic.

Problem is, a lot of people who follow them love this shit.

I would, on the other hand, read any fanfic that mercilessly mocked this.

Posting that on her blog or in the tags? It's okay if she does that on her own blog, but if she's posting in the tags then just block her so you don't have to see it.

That sounds a bit like what one author I know does on Twitter. They do similar when they're playing computer games, only they tend to add screencaps.

Thing is, one: I know they're a good writer, and two: I consider Twitter to be a platform expressly for lots of little updates like that. Elsewhere though? I can understand that complaint.
