"anime"

You do realize this is like saying "American film" or "British TV"

I said anime fans. or I meant to, anyway

also let's not talk shit here. when we're talking about contemporary anime, and especially contemporary television anime, most of it is targeted towards fairly narrow demographics. anime as a medium is in no way niche; anime as it's produced right now is absolutely a niche product. and that's exacerbated by the fact that the stuff that people actually watch is disproportionately the stuff that's targeted towards that demographic. it's fucking ridiculous to look at the typical roster of anime produced in a given season in TYOOL 2015 and claim that it's basically comparable to American film or British TV over the equivalent period. two swallows don't make a summer, and a handful of films don't make a mature + diverse industry. what you have for the most part is rather just a few different and specific kinds of nerd appeal.

Really haven't noticed this at all, tbh, since most fans aren't fans of only the stuff that's coming out in 2015.
