Ideally I'd like column A. I don't just mean in this case, I mean in general. I'd love to not have an emotional reaction to people being people.

People being people means most of them aren't that important, though. If someone on the internet thinks you have bad taste, so what? If they leave a vile comment at you, let it stand for itself and show people how petty and vile the poster is*.
