He makes it out like it's kaijin's fault he acted the way he did, or like the thing he did wrong was not realizing she wasn't gonna agree instead of the way he was acting being wrong. He was a jerk to her that day and he can't just say "hey, sorry for being a jerk," he has to slip in how it was actually on her.
