Not the OP, but! I've been meaning to rewatch the movie, but I had the hypothesis a while back that Roberts!Master's got sillier/campier when he was winning ("I always DREZZZZ for the occasion," "as WELL as you"), while his more humorless, Terminator-cosplaying moments was when he was 'losing,' and therefore fixated on his goals (like...pretty much every other moment, but especially any conversation with Chang Lee).

It sort of makes sense: he's on his last life, so he's going to be ruthless and cutting right to the chase. But he's still the Master, so when he feels like he CAN waste time by rubbing his victory in the Doctor's face, he absolutely will. I don't that's deliberate, mind you, more of the acting choices of Eric Roberts that coincidentally complimented the writing in the script, but only in decent lighting. :P

I will defend the "as WELL as you" and "life is wasted on the living" scenes, though. Those are great.

Like I said, I'm pretty sure that most of that is completely accidental. I just think that the Roberts Master is a LOT more enjoyable than people give him credit for.

(Note that I said enjoyable, and not 'good.')

That whole exchange with "As WELL as you" and the ambulance suddenly breaking was pretty cute.

Also the (Masterless) "Step aside or I'll shoot myself" bit right after is one of my favorite momnents in all of Who. It's such a Doctor-y thing to do.
