Especially in our country, where cats have a serious impact on native animal populations.

god yes.

In addition to being right next to a highway, I'm about 500 metres from a conservation park and an engangered animal reserve.

And there are cats EVERYWHERE

Apparently there were only a couple so lady-across-road started feeding them and now there's about 10, but two new cats showed up recently, one definitely an intact boy so....hellooo cat population boom :C
Seriously considering buying one of those crate traps when I get the money, I'll install it in my back yard and just start funnelling cats to the RSPCA....

That's really poor, not a good place to let your cat out -__-

Someone down the road from me (not near conservation area/big roads) is feeding all the feral cats and as a result other neighbours are keeping their cats in more since it's causing a lot of fights/injuries. Sigh.

We let our kitten out during the day for short periods sometimes, but she slipped out the door between our legs at night and she got hit by a neighbour's car... now she's in a cage for six weeks after a cool two thousand bucks treatment... so yeah, that's a disincentive.

I once met a gold prospector in Gippsland who swore he'd seen the legendary black panther... but scientists think it's feral cats who have become a bigger and blacker than average to become better nocturnal native animal killing machines...

One of these cats is an absolute monster of a cat. I thought he was a dog the first time I spotted him, he's got to be about 5-6kg minimum! I should grab a snap of him. Or her, possible, as big orange tom doesn't seem to mind it unlike all the others he attacks.

I'm glad your kitty is feeling better :( I have a coworker who had an indoor cat that she'd let play in her courtyard for an hour a day and...yeah kitty went exploring. Her new pair will be getting a cat run, which is awesoem because they're lovely cats.

Lol yeah if someone starts talking about the black panther I'm gonna assume it was a really big feral. Besides, I thought the panther was NSW or QLD?

I'd encourage you to, especially if it gets that intact male away and spayed.
