..I also do not understand people who get weirded out by anthros. Unless they were weirded out by things like Bugs Bunny as a kid. What is wrong with having an anthro to represent yourself?
Lulz at all these comments, furry is NOT GENERALLY A KINK. It's just a hobby. Of course, ALL FANDOMS have their weirdo's. You don't see us generalizing all anime fans as tentacle obsessed hentai lovers.

The problem is about 5% actually do it as a hobby. Alot of others are sex feinds, weirdos, or like I was/am, just in it for the cash (artist). The majority ARE perverts. Furries come out all the time saying "we aren't all like that! thats just a few!" but I can say for certain that that's untrue.

I don't know what places you have been to then.
All the furry places I've been to aren't full of people like that, much much MORE than 5%. And I don't go fully out my way to dodge the bad.

Most of the main furry hangouts- Secondlife, Furcadia, FA. You look on DA and you'll see artists like ... Muzz. Muzz appears normal. But she's as fucked up and perverted as the rest, with all the macro/micro, vore, and inflation art. The problem is, people like you sit and say that they aren't perverts/freaks just because they don't show off their gross shit on DA. It all comes out on FA. All of it.

Generally Furry = Furfag, gross, perverted and/or desperate. A small group of people are only in it for the art and such.

I can wander around SL and not encounter a single dirty fur. Furry is more diverse than that.
I know PLENTY of artists, furry artists, that ARE quite sane in the head. Some people need to get the BLINDERS off their eyes and stop seeing the narrow view.
And no, I don't draw anything dirty, thank you very much.

Oh, another generalization, not all fur's are fags.

SL, Furcadia, and FA are the MAIN furry hangouts. Seriously. :/ There's livejournal but those are specific to like, fursuiting etc. Hell, there are more 'gainer furs' lj comms than 'normal' furry communities.

But whatever, you can take it from someone who was in the fandom for the better part of 7 years. but Whatever.

Honestly, I think that's one of the main thing that bothers people most about furries. They're trying to make a lifestyle of it. You don't see scat fetishists having smears of poop as their avatar, or going to scat conventions.

Even without the sex, I just think it's really weird that people identify so much with other species, which they can never have intelligent conversations with or receive love from.

Seriously.

People go around calling it the furry "lifestyle", and that to me, counts as a weirdo. The worst part is when I was drawing furry stuff, and had a friend local to me who was a furry. I mainly did the art stuff and did commissions etc... while she... wow. She was creepy.

I remember the livejournal entry she made. I CAN FEEL MY CHEETAH MOHAWK. IT'S RIGHT UP MY BACK THIS IS AWESOME.

Granted when I was 10 years old some creepy dude tried to convince me he was really a dragon and I would say tsuff similar... but I was very lonely and hurt and broken at that time and that creep was taking advantage of that >< I just wanted to fit in.

Now I just want money.

Not all furs are lifestylers. And if you don't like furry cons, don't go to them.

I agree if you are a lifestyler, you need to realize you're going to take flak for it, but what annoys me is the amount of people who are perfectly able to ignore scifi/anime congoers, etc, but freak the hell out over furry cons/congoers.
