Oh, please. Her very existence ruins a character. She comes pre-ruined. I just hope when someone takes over from Moff that they can find a way to retcon it but good. She was made just to placate SJWs.

Missy is awesome, OP. I disagree with you about Moffat ruining characters because I liked Amy, River, and Eleven all the way through. But I really hope Missy is just as awesome in season 9 as she was in season 8.

Understandable you'd mix them up. Her, Irene Adler and River Song are all basically the same person.

Well... I'm a little jaded with the Moff and his obsession with dominatrices, but I did quite like Series 8 so am hopeful about Series 9; on the whole I found the Master's latest incarnation entertaining in their batshit insanity.

I thought the general consensus in fandom was he already ruined Missy by being unable to resist having her snog/fancy The Doctor? I don't really hang out in fandom spaces any more but there seemed to be a lot of hate for that.

I have the same fear. As long as he doesn't make her world revolve around the Doctor, I'm good.

On the other hand, I'm a huge fan of Michelle and Capaldi and really really attracted to both and I already ship Master/Doctor... sob

Heh good point. I think RTD's Master/Doctor fic gave the Master more agency though than is potentially possible with Moff's take on Missy/Doctor, because, well, Moff.

Didn't Classic Who Master revolve around the Doctor too. He seemed pretty obsessed with him anyway. They are supposed to be mirrors for each other, so it makes sense for them to revolve around each other.

The difference here is that the Master is now a woman. The power dynamic isn't the same, because all of Moffat's female characters' lives have revolved around men in the past.

Amy - The Doctor and Rory
River - The Doctor
Clara - 11th Doctor and Danny

Irene - Sherlock
Mary - Watson and Sherlock
Molly - Sherlock

I'm fine with the Master/Missy obsessing over The Doctor. I just want her to exist separate from the Doctor (unrealistic, I know) or at the very least be presented as an equal next to the Doctor. Moffat tried to present River as this, but it failed spectacularly.

The last time we got The Master, at least The Doctor was just as obsessed with him as he was with The Doctor.

Actually, Moffat's weird obsession with the River and the two dark ladies, whatever their names were, character type makes sense now I've seen Missy. I think the whole schtick works well with the 'Mistress' and I'm looking forward to seeing more of her.

The Master's plan should be nonsensical and ALL ABOUT THE DOCTOR. And they should want to creep all over the Doctor. So I'm going to be quite happy.
