I like both Sam and Dean, but you're right: the side chars are making it fun, despite heavy handed plots and (almost) eternally brooding main chars. (But Cas though? The actor seems nice in RL, but the character? Blech.)

I really liked Cas in seasons 4 and 5. Then I hated him in 6. And I've hated him in the few later episodes I've watched as well.

Yes, I like the actor who plays Castiel well enough, but the character himself? No. I liked Castiel when he first showed up, but I feel like his fandom popularity has contributed to the Wolverine syndrome of over-use and over-exposure, and I'm so tired of the character that it's morphed into dislike.
