See, I'm trying not to be mean here, because unlike you, I'm not...you know, mean, but do you honestly have any friends at all with that attitude? Does anyone who posts these types of secrets have actual friends? Because if you think someone is "too stupid to ever talk to again" because they didn't understand a fairly trivial concept or because they disagreed with you slightly on a trivial topic, then I can't imagine you're good at keeping friends around.

Not the OP - It's a trivial concept to you (and to me, I admit, but I'm not a gamer) but it's a pretty basic one. If a person just doesn't get it, I'd be exasperated with them too and I'd get tired of their complaints (which are based on not getting that concept) pretty fast and feel less inclined to hang out with them. And so what? That's my business.

Unless OP has a completely unique set of opinions that nobody else on the planet shares, it's unlikely they won't be able to find some like-minded people. Making friendships based on having similar worldviews is a sound practice and a very common one, so I don't see what the big deal is.

da

But, see, OP didn't specify if he's talking about people who just don't "get it", or people who don't know.
To me the secret reads like OP is exasperated that people don't know the facts, and rather than educate people, he'd just rather call them stupid and be done with them.

(Anonymous) 2015-09-13 03:44 am (UTC)(link)
Why should OP be obligated to educate people, though? If they'd rather just slow fade and talk to other people, that's up to them, isn't it?

(Anonymous) 2015-09-13 12:11 pm (UTC)(link)
It's not their job, no, and they're not obligated to do anything.

I'm just legit wondering if he's able to make any friends? Most of us, at one time or another, have made comments like "TAKE MY MONEY" and such.

"Making friendships based on having similar worldviews is a sound practice and a very common one, so I don't see what the big deal is."

Yeah, but you're never gonna find someone who agrees with you 100% of the time or who understands 100% of the things you understand. If you ditch everyone the minute you discover something like that, you're gonna wind up with no one.

The secret gives no indication that the OP requires all of their friends to be in 100% agreement with them about everything. It only mentions this one issue. Lots of people have dealbreakers when it comes to friendships, and that's their call, surely?
